Intelligence? On Newgrounds? I'm in shock. ^^

Wow... I'm surprised something this thoughtful did so well in a place like Newgrounds -- I guess miracles do happen. ^^

First of all, let me say -- you are an EXTREMELY talented voice actor, if you did your character's on VAing (I would assume so. ^_^). Wow. You knew just the tone of voice to carry, just the words to emphasise to make it not only realistic, but at the same time interesting and lively! That's not an easy thing to do -- I'd know. Congratulations on that aspect!

With a flash that has a lot of speech, authors tend to get lazy on the animation, but you made a strong point of using character movement to emphasise what was being said, to keep things more 'alive'... and the characters in the background were funny, but not so obnoxious as to detract from the main point in any way.

This must have take a lot of time and thought to put together, and you completely and totally deserve a slot amongst the daily features. ^^

Congratulations on making a really, really good Flash movie! ^_^

Let's see, if you did watch the credits, it took a good 1.5 months on it all. Three days of recording, a week setting it all out in a basic configuration, a good month of 12+ hours per day for the lip-sync, then another 12 days on the scene's animations... After that, the post-recording scene and the credits, those were a breeze of respectively a week and two days ^_^
And I had other things to keep my mind off that, like helping Rynn with her first drawing on Flash - Meta Ridley. She did extremely well, wouldn't you agree?

YES!!!

This movie (#%&*ing RULES! XD
I've never seen a better satire of the CC or LL in my life! SIR! ALL MY 5 ARE BELONG TO THIS! ^^

Bananabeard 2 will be amazing :D

Wow!

That was extremely amazing... the animation of the character was extremely dynamic, and from the look of things, you must either be really good with symbols or drawn it frame-by-frame - I'm guessing the latter. WOW! You don't see stuff this good on Newgrounds every day! I sincerely hope this gets a slot in the daily features, because goodness, it deserves one. Kudos to you! Keep up the good work!

TurbulenceXM responds:

Thanx for the reply

That was really good

It looks like you actually learned a lot while using the trial and took learning flash seriously - kudos to you! I've seen things that people claim took substantially longer than this took, with only a fraction of the quality. Admittedly, there are places it could be improved (The beginning was just scrolling by hills with NG characters on them, a bit bland), but when this movie picks up, it picks up well! A nice idea, a bajillion times better than (REDUNDANT SPRITE VS SPRITE MOVIE #817419 BY BILLY AGE 7) that all the newbies throw into the portal. This stuff has QUALITY, and I can appriciate the work that must have gone into it. Drawing many characters from a number of anglesmust've been tricky, also. Overall -- YES. This was good. And considering the time frame, EXCELLENT. Kudos, and good luck when you obtain a full version of Flash. ^_^

mooseproduce responds:

MY GOD, YEEESSSS!! thats the spirit! im gonna quote you, by God! for the love of Fulp, that redundant Sprite thing was EXACTLY my point when making this! you, my good man, will do good things. :)

I find it rather amusing...

Alright... I'll be fair. I have created both sprite and animation tweened movies, and spoken at length and in detail about the methods of correctly doing each one with experienced animators such as Legendary Frog and Misteroo here, and seeking to one day make an animated series myself that wouldn't be disgraceful to this server, see what I can learn.

Admittedly, as you seem so fond of doing, you're going to click my profile and see the horribly obsolete year-old animutation I made when I was first using flash and stupidly decided to submit to Newgrounds, and then use that as a self-praising merit to discredit anything and everything I have to say, because obviously your logical premesis are always correct, and mine are always false. As you say yourself in your profile, you try for full fairness in all your reviews! Which means you might have to boot up the two dust-choked brain cells in the lifeless void that is your head when you wake up and realize that almost everyone with more than half a brain this side of newgrounds is throwing you criticisms left and right. Why? The reason is quite simple.

Now, through my experiences with animation, I have come to a very plausible conclusion. Sprite-based movies are extremely easy to make. Yes, I've actually done this -- with more complex animation sequences and behaviors, might I add (walking/stopping, turning, along a 2-dimensional plane instead of a 1-dimensional foreground) in 3 minutes. Now, you have multiple endings, so I'll grant you... maybe 10 minutes. 20 minutes of your day absolute max, if you honestly know how to use the software you are working with.

The use of Black Mage and Mega Man are only to coast off of the severe popularity of their respective webcomics and relate it to your effortless movie. Tell me -- if I were to grade this movie fairly, exactly as you BEG users to in your own profile, would it not be fairest to compeltely ignore who the characters are and what popular franchises or works they were formerly associated with and view the movie ONLY for the actual quality level and effort put into it?

Yes. So let's analyze this.
-Sprites moving around a screen in a 2-D environment.
-Sprites that you didn't make, might I add.
-With a total of four blows exchanged before the simply 'genius' choose-your-own-ending scenario.
-With terrible music.

If 2 stick figures were moving around, hit eachother four times, and then died one of 3 ways, said movie would be blown sky high. I only think it's fair to scale the work by its effort and quality.

So, when are you going to respond telling me that you're always right because my crappy obsolete movie sucks? That obviously makes you right. Come on, I'm waiting.

Magosis responds:

I did not make this to capitalize on the popularity of existing movies, i made this to learn more about the tools and how to improve my future movies. i understand you points and give you full credit for honesty i am somewhat sensative to critism. i merly respond angerly to downright isulting reviews. I do not meant to influence opionions in this way... lol well yes i do :P but that is just because like i said i am a bit touchy about my work. so be honest but not insulting and i will atleast try to make a civil and educated response

although my horible spelling and gramar may say otherwise :P

Woah!

First of all, I must say for the whole series - The concept is really neat, and cleverly deployed! I was surprised to see some of the things that were actually uncluded. With that out of the way... Freaking awesome! The graphics are even better than the last one, and since Samus' Varia Suit is so graphically complex, I imagine it took a lot of work. Also, the visor display is almost exactly like the Metroid Prime one, which is very sweet. Kudos to you!

If there was one way to improve this work of art, I'd say increase the sound quality. However, I am aware that to keep the filesizes down, some severe sound compression has to take place, so I'm going to be pretty leniant with that. Besides, Samus' VA is neat. ... Almost sounds like Joanna Dark. Is the VA British? o_0

As far as flashes go, this is pretty high quality. It tops a lot of the stuff I see here, so I must say... way to go. ^_^

D responds:

I guess you didn't take a look at the credits :). Anyway, I do all the voices except Samus which I got my sister to do. She is not British, she just wanted to do a british accent so I let her. Yeah and your right about the sound, if I didn't compress it the filesize would be huge. Thanks for the good review.
